RESIDENTIAL
International House is an independent, non-profit dormitory residence and community for graduate students, scholars, interns, and trainees in New York City. For more than 90 years, I-House has challenged its residents to become the next generation of global leaders through participation in an inclusive, lifelong community. With 700 student-residents in two separate buildings, I-House recognized a need to modernize the campus for the 21st century, improve connectivity and accessibility between the two existing buildings, and create more flexible spaces to encourage social interaction and meet housing demand. Envoie Projects was engaged pre-concept phase to set up the project team and overall framework for the project. Once we developed and confirmed the project scope, budget and schedule, we led thorough RFQ/RFP processes for the core team, including the architect, CM, and an extensive specialty consulting team. As the project manager, we led the team through multiple key challenges, multiple zoning variance requirements due to the dual lot configuration, developed DOB filing and permitting strategies to ensure project schedule is met, and VE efforts at each phase to ensure budget compliance.
